About Me

JBpic.JPG

My background is in theatre and education and before qualifying as a therapist, I spent 14 years in the arts education sector working  at Polka Theatre in London, where I was Head of Creative Learning for 7 years. I have always believed in the healing power of play and creativity and while working in theatre and with schools and community groups, I decided to retrain with the children’s mental health charity Place2Be. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Children from the University of East London and I have Levels 2 and 3 (CPCAB accredited) certificates in counselling skills. I have a BA Hons degree in Psychology and Drama from Rhodes University, South Africa. I am especially interested in early attachment and trauma and am registered to work with adopted children and hold a

Level 1 DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy) certificate from Family Futures, Islington. I have an enhanced DBS check and regularly attend training and CPD.

I work in primary schools, for the Local Authority and with private clients. I sit on the Board of Trustees for national charity, Action for Children's Arts, campaigning for the arts to play a vital role in childhood and education.
